If you are planning for EMO Hannover in 2027, adjust the plan. EMO alternates between Hanover and Milan, and the 2027 edition takes place at fieramilano in Rho, near Milan, from 4 to 8 October 2027. The next Hanover edition is in 2029. The last EMO in Hanover, in 2025, brought together more than 1,600 exhibitors from 44 countries and almost 80,000 visitors.

For machine tool builders, EMO is the world's main stage for metal cutting and forming, automation, additive manufacturing and digital production. This guide covers how machine tool and automation suppliers use 3D renders and animation from CAD to make their machines readable at EMO Milan 2027.

Why machine tools are hard to show at a fair

A machining centre on a stand is impressive and almost opaque. The cabin is closed, coolant fogs the window, and the features that decide the purchase are inside:

  • Working envelope and axis travel, which a buyer compares against their parts.
  • Tool changer speed and magazine capacity, measured in seconds and pockets.
  • Chip and coolant management, which decides uptime in real production.
  • Automation: pallet changers, robot loading and how many unattended hours the cell can run.
  • Thermal and structural design, the castings and guideways that give accuracy over years.

Running a machine on the stand demonstrates some of this. A 3D animation built from the machine's CAD shows all of it, with the enclosure removed, coolant hidden and each axis labelled with its travel.

Process animation of injection moulding, from pellets to finished part. The same approach shows a machining cycle inside a closed cabin.

Visuals for an EMO stand

Machining cycle animation

A 60 to 90 second film of a real part being machined: clamping, roughing, tool change, finishing and unloading, with cycle time on screen. Engineers at EMO judge machines by cycle time and accuracy, so the numbers should be yours, not invented.

Automation cell flythrough

Many machine tool builders now sell cells, not machines. A flythrough shows the robot, the pallet storage and the machine working together, which is the story buyers short of skilled operators want to hear.

Cutaway of the structure

A cutaway still of the casting, spindle and guideways for the brochure and booth wall. This is where premium machine tools justify their price.

Variant renders

One photoreal render per size and configuration, from the same prepared CAD, for the catalogue and website.

Industrial equipment rendered from CAD in a clean studio setting, suitable for catalogues and stand graphics.

Machine tools need numbers, not adjectives

EMO visitors are production engineers, and they buy on measurable values. Every film and render should be built around the numbers you publish: axis travel, spindle speed and power, rapid traverse, tool change time chip to chip, magazine capacity, positioning accuracy and footprint. Put them on screen at the moment the relevant motion happens.

If a value cannot be published, do not invent a vague claim in its place. Engineers notice, and a claim they cannot verify weakens everything else in the film.

Questions.

Is there an EMO Hannover in 2027?

No. EMO alternates between Hanover and Milan. EMO 2027 takes place at fieramilano in Rho, near Milan, from 4 to 8 October 2027. The next Hanover edition is in 2029.

How do you animate a machining cycle?

From the machine CAD and your real cycle data: clamping, roughing, tool change, finishing and unloading, with the enclosure removed and cycle time on screen.

Can you show an automation cell, not just the machine?

Yes. A flythrough of the robot, pallet storage and machine working together is often the strongest story for buyers short of operators.

When should we start for EMO 2027?

For a machining or cell film, send CAD by early July 2027. Renders and short films can follow until late August.
